Last updated: October 2026
This policy explains how Syriani Law Firm ("the firm", "we") collects and uses personal data through this website and when you contact us. We apply Lebanese Law No. 81 of 10 October 2018 on Electronic Transactions and Personal Data and, where it applies to you, the EU General Data Protection Regulation (Regulation (EU) 2016/679, "GDPR").
1. Who is responsible for your data
The controller of your personal data is Syriani Law Firm, Copti Building, 1st Floor, Charles Corm Street, Achrafieh, Beirut, Lebanon, Lebanon. You can reach us about any privacy matter at info@syrianilawfirm.com.
2. What we collect
- Information you send us through the contact form or by email: your name, email address, and optionally your phone number, company, and the content of your message.
- Technical data that our hosting provider records automatically when you visit the site, such as your IP address, browser type and the pages requested. These server logs are used for security and to keep the site running.
We do not use cookies, analytics, advertising trackers or social media plugins on this website. The fonts used on the site are hosted on our own server, so your visit is not shared with third-party font providers.
Please do not send us sensitive personal data (for example about health or criminal matters) through the contact form. If your matter involves such data, we will arrange a secure way to receive it once we have agreed to act for you.
3. Why we use it, and on what legal basis
| Purpose | Legal basis under the GDPR |
|---|---|
| Replying to your enquiry and assessing whether we can act for you, including a conflict-of-interest check | Steps taken at your request before entering into a contract (Art. 6(1)(b)); your consent (Art. 6(1)(a)) |
| Keeping a record of enquiries and correspondence | Our legitimate interest in managing our practice and defending legal claims (Art. 6(1)(f)) |
| Complying with professional and legal obligations that apply to lawyers | Legal obligation (Art. 6(1)(c)) |
| Keeping the website secure | Our legitimate interest in protecting our systems (Art. 6(1)(f)) |
Under Lebanese law, we collect personal data fairly, for specified and legitimate purposes, and only to the extent needed for those purposes. By sending us the form you consent to this use, and you can withdraw your consent at any time by writing to us.
4. Who receives your data
Your data is seen only by the firm's lawyers and staff who need it. We use the following service providers, who process data on our behalf and under our instructions:
- Netlify, Inc. (United States), which hosts the website and processes the contact form.
- Microsoft Corporation, which provides our email services (Microsoft 365).
We do not sell personal data or share it for marketing. We may disclose data where the law or a court requires it.
5. Transfers outside Lebanon and the European Economic Area
Our service providers may process data in the United States or other countries. Where the GDPR applies, such transfers rely on an adequacy decision (such as the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework, for providers certified under it) or on the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.
6. How long we keep it
- Enquiries that do not lead to an engagement: deleted within 12 months of our last exchange.
- Enquiries that lead to an engagement: kept with the client file for the period required by our professional obligations and applicable limitation periods.
- Server logs: kept by our hosting provider for a short period in line with its own policies.
7. Your rights
Under Lebanese law you have the right to know whether we hold personal data about you, to access it, and to have it corrected, completed, updated or deleted where it is inaccurate, incomplete or no longer needed.
If the GDPR applies to you, you also have the right to:
- access your data and receive a copy of it;
- have inaccurate data corrected;
- have your data erased, where there is no longer a reason for us to keep it;
- restrict or object to our use of your data, including where we rely on legitimate interests;
- receive data you gave us in a portable format;
- withdraw your consent at any time, without affecting the lawfulness of earlier processing;
- lodge a complaint with the data protection authority of the EU country where you live or work.
To exercise any of these rights, email info@syrianilawfirm.com. We will reply within one month. Some rights are limited by our duty of professional secrecy and by our legal obligations as lawyers.
8. Security and confidentiality
The website is served over an encrypted connection (HTTPS). Within the firm, access to personal data is limited to those who need it, and all our lawyers are bound by professional secrecy.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top of the page shows when it was last changed.
